Nurse Manager
Clinic · New Haven Area · full-time
Job description
Lead the care. Shape the team. Make it matter. As a Nurse Manager, you'll be the heartbeat of a clinical team that serves one of Connecticut's most vibrant and diverse communities. You'll mentor nurses, champion patients, and build the kind of department culture where people actually want to come to work. What you'll be doing At its core, this role is about people. The patients who count on us and the clinical staff who show up every day to serve them. You'll lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants, guiding everything from daily workflows to long-term performance growth. You'll be the person your team turns to when things get complicated, and the voice of clinical excellence in the room when decisions get made. Day to day, that looks like overseeing scheduling and patient flow, coaching staff through performance conversations, rolling up your sleeves for direct patient care when the team needs it, and driving quality improvement initiatives that actually move the needle. You'll also play a meaningful role in onboarding new team members, managing grant reporting, and representing your department on committees and in cross-functional projects. This is a middle management role with real influence. You'll report to nursing leadership and have a direct hand in shaping how care gets delivered on the ground. You're a licensed Registered Nurse in Connecticut (BSN preferred), with at least two years of ambulatory care experience and one year leading others in that setting. Ideally, you've worked in a Federally Qualified Health Center and have seen firsthand how complex, high-volume primary care operates. You know your way around an EHR, understand quality metrics, and have a working familiarity with PDSA or Lean methodology. But beyond credentials, what we're really looking for is someone who leads with empathy and acts with purpose. Someone who can hold people accountable without losing their trust, and who sees process improvement not as a burden but as a genuine opportunity to help patients and staff alike. Strong communication skills are a must, both written and verbal. Bilingual fluency in Spanish is a meaningful plus in a community where it makes a real difference.
